I will admit that I had a good time watching the events at Baghdad's center. I woke up late, stretched out, and turned on the tv only to catch visions of a jubliant people cheering as the Marines took the center and eventually took down Saddam's statue. It was an inspiring thing watching this as the Arab world watched these same images in horror.
There is nothing wrong with being Arabic. The issue I have is that many of these people believed that regardless of how bad Hussein is, that he would be a better ruler because he was Arabic. That is about as ignorant as believing someone is bad because they are a different religion than your own.
I dont have an answer for this kind of thing; I dont know if anyone does. This kind of ignorance has been around long before this war: the Inquisition, KKK, the Holocaust... Hopefully, we can learn to be the good people that our dogs believe we are.

CNN is playing the human interest story about Brooklyn's Edward Chin, the Marine who hung the Stars and Stripes over Saddam's statue in Baghdad yesterday. It was a powerful vision to see that struck the entire world. All this from the son of a Chinese immigrant. Its good to be Asian today.
This past weekend I attended my first organized cycling event. It was only for 15 miles and a local charity event, but I still had a total blast despite the fact I blew a tire at the 12 mile mark. blah! Now I'm being threatened.. umm.. I mean talked... into trying the MS 150 event. Its a premier event as well as for a very worthy cause. I'm thinking about doing it, but its for two days of 75 miles apiece. This means I'm really going to have to train for this and time may not be a luxary I will have due to the current workloads. Blah!
